Shops Around the Corner: Elsewhere Vintage
November 7, 2008
Welcome to a new feature on The Vintage Society! Every other Friday, I will be featuring shops around the world. They may be local shops in my neighborhood (great for any Society Girl on the West Coast), shops in other states around the country, or most often shops online (that any Society Girl can enjoy).
I want to spread the good news of great little haunts that feature vintage or vintage-inspired clothes, jewelry, handbags.. basically anything fabulous for Society Girls to make their own. Side note to any online shop owners.. contact me to be featured.
So we begin with my latest obsession of a shop, I have hinted around this one, but wanted to wait until I could give you a sneek peak into the world of Elsewhere Vintage! For those in Southern Californina, you must make this a new stop on your shopping excursions. Tucked away in Old Towne Orange, one of the prettiest little towns you’ve ever seen, you will find this hidden treasure. I have long waited for a vintage shop to pop up in my neck of the woods that oozes such flare.. and now it is here!
Elsewhere Vintage feels fresh and unique, with a boutique atmosphere. The selection you will find is top notch, anything from 1920’s through the 1980’s. There is no need to claw and pick through stacks - it is all neatly organized and displayed - and I love that it is sorted by style not era. You may even find Christian Dior or more! Oh… and the accessories are to die for.. ecspecially the purse selection.. I have my eye on at least 10 must-haves.
On a final note: Being an avid thrifter, I must say, that I know what is easy and hard to find when it comes to vintage clothing - and what you will find at Elsewhere is the hard to find - unbelievable - one of a kind peices!
Add Elsewhere Vintage to your list of places to shop..I promise.. it will be worth it. And good news, for those salivating who live outside of California, they plan to sell online as well!

GREAT NEWS!
October 21, 2008
I have fabulous new! I have received many comments and questions about my favorite pair of shoes from Steve Madden, and the good news is that they are still available online - but the best part is that they are ridiculously on sale! I actually just bought another pair in black.. so expect to see them often.
The Collection
September 3, 2008
The best accessory for any season comes down to one simple item - A BOOK! For summer lie pool-side or beach-side with book in hand, for fall bundle up in your layered knits and head to the park for a picnic with book in hand, for winter curl up by the roaring fire donning woolly tights with book in hand, and for spring sit prim in your luscious garden with book in hand. It really goes with anything!
And when it comes to books, I recommend my most recent accessory - The Collection, by Gioia Diliberto. Every Society Girl will fall in love with the seamstress who works under the inspiring CoCo Chanel. You are thrown into Paris just after World War I when fashion has hit its peak and girls flock to the showroom to see what jersey dress Chanel will create next. The passion for designing couture clothes plays a main character and it will draw you in with each stitch.
Emmy & Ivy
August 18, 2008
Every Society Girl could use more frosting.. and by frosting I mean stand-out accessories! Dressing up may be considered a childhood pastime, but Society Girls around the globe know otherwise.. there will always be time to dress up. Sometimes dressing up is throwing on one fabulous layer after another, twirling around in a drop-dead dress.. or in this case - showering yourself in bows, barretts and gobs of jewelry.
A little shop, known as Emmy & Ivy appreciate the art of dressing up and they are supplying Society Girls with all the frosting they need. With loads of vintage inspired cocktail rings, barretts and hair jewels, a girl could frost herself over and over… I know I did!
So why not get caught up in the creations of Jackie Ostrowicki and Sarah McCurley and their little shop Emmy & Ivy!
The Society Girl Way: Pop Out in Color
July 16, 2008
Society Girls are confident, strong, independent women who define what style is.. and why not showcase your individuality by being BOLD. Stand up and out in the crowd with solid bright colors that can’t help but be noticed!
Take a hint from these Society Girls and choose to mix and match pops of color, accessorize with color, or just wear one fabulously “not-to-shy-pink” dress. It’s the Society Girl way….

Going to the Office the Society Girl Way
June 27, 2008
Sometimes girl’s got to put on a pencil skirt and head to the office. There is something about the office that deters most from dressing their best and being their stylish self. The corporate world is filled with black, black and maybe a little white – but I say don’t shy away from your inner Society Girl. Embrace the opportunity to dress it up and step up the chic factor.
If your office is a little more conservative keep one or two pieces on the down low, but add interesting elements with stand out accessories or a dramatic skirt, jacket or shoes. Do it the Society Girl way..

A Peek Inside the Party
June 25, 2008
A peek inside The Vintage Society party for all who weren’t able to attend. The evening was just about perfection - the only glitch being the ridiculous heat wave we were experiencing in Los Angeles. Other than that, it was a blast meeting many Society Girls who came out to celebrate- thanks for joining me!
The highlight of the evening was meeting our Boston Society Girl - Francesca! She received the traveling shirt and styled an incredibly inspiring “Sailor’s Wife” creation. Chatting with Francesca and her boyfriend Paul was so much fun. It is amazing connecting with Society Girls from around the country!
All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better evening! Now on to more Society fun…
